Ok. So if you follow me on Facebook you know that on Sunday I shot our annual family holiday photos. With two exceptions in the past few years (the Hippies shot of 2008 and the Denver urban shots of 2009), I have developed the concept and shot our family photos, usually using the timer function to set up the shot, then quickly run into place. That usually resulted in slightly mussed hair and an overheated red face for me. This year we did things a bit differently, though I won’t tell you exactly how we managed to pull it off!
The concept this year involved a few elements that required some hunting…a really ugly chair (which I managed to find on Craigslist at a great little funky furniture shop in south Austin run by what appeared to be an eclectic group of potheads), a gray bandana, and some cowboy hats. Oh, and the perfect open spot with pretty light and the quintessential Texas grass.
We managed to find exactly what we were looking for, including the chair pictured below. It’s actually so ugly that it’s kind of cool and I wish I had a way to keep it around, but there’s no room in the RV! At any rate, here is a sneak peek at one of our photos from this year.
We have a couple extra cards being printed this year, so if you’re dying to get one and aren’t sure you’re on our Christmas card list, just leave a comment below and we’ll try to get one to you. When we run out of cards, we’ll post an electronic version here just before Christmas, in case you have nothing better to do at that point besides read our hit-or-miss blog! π
Enjoy!
