We went out for a quick drive around Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island this evening, and realized that we had forgotten all about a quick stop at Lake Jackson in Florala, Alabama, last Monday. We stopped there for about a half hour to let Chase burn some carbon by jumping off the dock to retrieve a tennis ball.
Right away I asked Tim, “Are there any gators in that lake?”
He replied, “No, of course not!”
So we agreed to let Chase launch off the dock, which he did without any encouragement from us and even before Tim could throw the ball. We kept a close eye on him and enjoyed watching him swim way out to the ball and bring it back in numerous times. Since it was twilight, my favorite time of day, the sunlight was gorgeous, and I quickly snapped a few shots of the dock and shoreline, as well as of Chase (of course!).
Finally Chase was done swimming, so we all hopped back in the truck and continued to Enterprise to visit with Tim’s dad, stepmom, and family. When we arrived in Enterprise, we mentioned that we had stopped to let Chase swim in Florala at the lake, and immediately Tim’s dad says, “You know there are gators in that lake!”
Guess we were fortunate that none of them were around! Won’t be doing that again without asking the locals first!
Anyway, here are some shots from that adventure…enjoy!
