My weekend experience at the University of the Rockies

0saves

For today’s post I decided to write a little about one of my online schools, the University of the Rockies. It is located in Colorado Springs. I teach in their sport psychology specialization and also teach an intensive weekend section for the Group Process course at the doctoral level from time to time with colleague Dr. Lisa Meek.

I just finished my fifth weekend intensive this weekend with an incredible group of 10 students from all over the country with varied backgrounds and career paths. I even met a student named Kate Hood who graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts, a college I coached at in 1999-2000. I have included a class picture from this weekend. I have really enjoyed working for this school and the great students I have met here.

The course I helped teach this weekend looks at the entire group process and how to use the Myers-Briggs and FIRO-B assessments to help others work better with one another. The greatest thing is I have learned as much if not more from the students as they have learned from me. I really believe that my experience with this course will have a great impact on my leadership this year at the Regents School of Austin and beyond!

We are heading out tomorrow for Minnesota to visit with friends and family. We expect it will take us two days or so to get there so stay tuned…maybe we will see something that is actually interesting in Nebraska (LOL).

Drew A. Neal If you can log on to the class blackboard I would encourage you to do so. The processing is really quite illuminating!
Thanks for the chat (life)Coach.

Tim Drew…I just took a look at your discussion board posts. Very interesting. Either way, it has been a learning experience for all parties 🙂

Drew A. Neal Things are heating up. Now I am being accused of a Code of Conduct violation for my accurate post. I guess the truth hurts! Unbelievable!!

Drew A. Neal I hate to admit it, but I have lost my patience with U of R. I worked through the PM issue by dropping the course, and as predicted, the chain of command did nothing to resolve the ongoing problem. I thought I had a game plan devised with my AA to take some CJ-type classes, and return to Stats in the Spring. She “forgot” about the hour long conversation, then “remembered” it after I sent an e-mail (but remembered it incorrectly) and seemed obsessed with the fact I capitalized a couple of words, following PM’s lead and accusing me of ethics violations in e-mailing. This school seems to follow the old adage “Students Last, CYA First”.
I am resigned to the fact it is not going to get any better. Wish me luck!
How is Austin treating you?
