about to launch our own version of the American dream!

Welcome to our blog chronicling our Radical Sabbatical!

What we’re doing: heading out on the road for a year of full-time RVing and working via laptop, internet, and cell phones. Tim will be teaching sports management courses online full-time for a few schools. I will be running my marketing + social media consulting business, The Collective Savvy, with my business partner Cassie who lives in Denver.

Why we’re doing it: because we can! We have never been interested in saving all the fun for retirement. Or owning a house, for that matter. This is probably as close as we’ll come to that. 🙂

What we’ve done to prepare: Last week we purchased the RV and the truck to pull it within a space of 24 hours! Talk about interesting! It was so smooth…we have never had things go so smoothly! We must really be meant to do this! Tim has been building his teaching business (soon to be housed under the name Yellowdog, LLC), and I have been building my new partnership consulting business.

We will be traveling and living in a 2010 Honda Ridgeline and a 2006 Trailmanor 3124KS.

Rice's Truck & RVWhen we’re doing it: God willing, we plan to leave on or before July 1st, 2010. Tim turns 40 that day, and we hope to be on our way to Alaska to spend July and August there. Then back to Denver in September, and hopefully a 2-week trip to Europe to celebrate our 15th anniversary. The rest is unplanned at this point, but we hope to get to both Minnesota and Alabama to spend some time with our families.

We’ll be writing about a variety of topics and posting quite a few images (I can hardly wait to get out and photograph more frequently!), and you’ll probably also hear about our life from our yellow lab mix Chase’s perspective!

Feel free to comment, call, or email. Oh, and you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and more by clicking the “More Info” tab at the left of your screen.

Here we go!

candy Hey Lauren. You rock! We are serious about wanting to get in touch with other Goodwill programs in the places we’re headed…would love to continue working with this program! And we’ll be sure to stop by and see you, and hopefully be able to do some portfolio reviews, etc., as well!
